A Discreet Bill Propels America's First National ID Card Into Existence
The majority of Americans are not aware of the Real ID Act today, but the truth of the matter remains that in slightly over two months, most US citizens will suddenly have a driver’s license that is also a national identity card. Despite widespread rejection of this Act and nearly a decade of delays, Real ID is still on course to be implemented on January 15th, 2013.
If you are currently scratching your head and wondering, “Okay, what is this Real ID Act and how can it affect me?” -don’t worry. You’re not alone. Truth Hack conducted a series of random interviews amongst the local population and it turns out that the average citizen is not and never has been aware of the Real ID Act.
As its most materialistic function, Real ID will turn your State driver’s license into a national identity card. All of your most personal information (think driver’s license, birth certificate, Social Security, passport information, and immigration documentation) will be kept on file for reference. With over 208 million drivers in the US today, the government will possess one big fat personal database of all citizens holding the mandatory travel card- a simple driver’s license.
“I’ve never heard of this.” Savannah* said when interviewed by Truth Hack. “It’s too much personal information to require… How could we not know about this?”
The reason that most people are not aware of Real ID is that its creators and supporters have wisely downplayed and smoke screened the bill into existence. According to .realnightmare.org, it (Real ID) was slipped through Congress in May 2005 in a ‘must pass’ Iraq War/Tsunami relief supplemental bill, as a part of a deal reached between the powerful Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R. Wis.) and the Congressional leadership, making it quite arguably a bill that has been passed without true democratic process. Beyond the ramifications of being passed without support from most states or voters, Real ID has been criticized as being painfully costly, a threat to privacy, and downright unconstitutional. It intends to force every state to increase rules and regulations for documents submitted before the issuing of a new and hopefully counterfeit-proof driver’s license that will be used for nationwide purposes. The process to get the card will verify that all documents are legitimate and the applicant is in the United States legally. The idea behind the Real ID Act is to create a safeguard against terrorists such as the radicals on 9/11 who infamously used multiple forms of fake ID to board the airplanes that they hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The problem with Real ID is not that it intends to thwart terrorism but that it further violates the dwindling privacy of American citizens and provides the government with an overwhelmingly powerful new tool- our nation’s first national identity card. If all goes according to plan, the new identity cards will be required to board airplanes and access government facilities. Unfortunately, this alone will not be enough to keep terrorists off of American turf. Greater measures will have to be taken.
Of course there is an infinite amount of possibilities as to how the government might choose to further wield her legislative power over human rights in the name of protection- but let’s focus on the issue of identification; What’s to stop the government from requiring a national ID of everyone making a purchase or a sale in America? The logic is plausible enough. Wouldn’t it make you feel more secure knowing that an illegal person cannot make a basic purchase on American soil? Such a plan could really frustrate illegal imposters. But wouldn’t this almost certainly result in an increase of stolen ID cards? What if it came down to the elimination of carrying any cards? Although it is a highly controversial practice, most Americans are well aware that the government already possesses the technology to microchip information into every individual. Revelation 13:16-17 foretells of such a day and age when all of this will come to pass, saying, And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads; And that no man might buy or sell, save he that have the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Despite the fact that God’s word will always remain true and every word prophesied will be fulfilled, we do not need to be blindsided by the measures that might lead us there. Because of the consistent downplay and temporarily reduced regulations to implement Real ID into every state, there’s not a lot of talk about the staggering significance of this bill today. In order to find out the current status of the Real ID Act in the state of California, Truth Hack called and conducted a phone interview with someone at California Senator Diane Feinstein’s office. “The bill is already in place.” Julius* a phone operator to Senator Feinstein’s office confirmed. “Senator Feinstein supported it in 2005 and we have funding (for the bill). As of now it’s been referred to the financial committee. It hasn’t left the financial institute and consumer credit committee and is still being voted on it in the House.”
According to Julius it is impossible to say when Real ID will take the full effect that was intended by its writing, but at without a national emergency occurring the process remains slow and steady. It is likely that even with the new rules and regulations required to obtain their driver’s license, most people will continue to be oblivious to the loss of just a little more power from the people.
Even though Real ID has passed and is set to be implemented mere weeks into the upcoming New Year, it is not the Mark of the Beast that we know must inevitably come, but it could easily be a stage setting predecessor. The Bible wants us to be ready and not be deceived as it warns of in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12, because they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved…That they all might be damned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. The real danger of this situation is not the emergence of a national ID card or even the fact that Real ID could be used to control the population and eventually lead to the soul damning Mark of the Beast. The real danger is that no one is aware enough to understand the truth and recognize when the rights to their livelihood and ultimately the rights to their soul are at risk.
