War and Rumors of War

North Korea knows how to launch a full force threat campaign, but can it launch a missile all the way to the United States? At first the experts swore, “No, no way. North Korea doesn’t have that type of technology yet- those silly little North Koreans need to pack up their slingshots and leave Uncle Sam to all the nuclear warhead bench pressing.” Okay so that’s not exactly a verbatim quote, but that’s the lassize fair attitude that was first implicated in lieu of war threats from North Korea.
So why the animosity? Lets back up a bit to review what exactly has lead us to this point. The struggle of North Korea is long and heavily thwarted by the UN. Of course we don’t want dangerous dictators wielding nuclear firearms, but that doesn’t stop the impoverished nation of North Korea from trying to create weapons of mass destruction. In December 2012, Pyongyang (North Korea’s capital) launched a rocket that put a satellite into space, demonstrating that they were getting closer to long-range nuclear missile technology. Despite the demands of the UN, despite threats imposed by more powerful nations, North Korea has stubbornly continued it’s nuclear weapon and ballistics program. Further ignoring the widespread condemnation, North Korea followed through with a nuclear test in late February. As punishment, the UN has promised to enforce tough new sanctions against North Korea.
Bitter against the sanctions and mostly blaming the US, North Korea has since been spewing threats against a long list of global enemies. In a letter to the UN Security Council, North Korea called the recent sanctions “a crime” and “clear proof” the 15-nation UN body “was abused into implementing the hostile policy of the United States.” The letter swore “stronger countermeasures” against the hateful sanctions and advised the United States to prepare for war, stating that North Korea is ready to “fight it out and win a final victory.” Furthermore, North Korea has complained about the scheduled South Korea-US exercises, branding them a threat to its existence. Washington and Seoul have explained that the 11 day drill, which involves 10,000 South Korean soldiers and 3,500 US troops, is only for general defense preparation just as they do every year. Naturally North Korea is not convinced, writing in their official newspaper
Rodong Sinmun that military units had “entered the final all-out war stage” and “are awaiting the final order to strike." After the first round of threats, Truth Hack approached the general public to find out their opinions. “Every threat should be taken seriously…” Eddie* told our journal. “Any small country could become a threat.” Meanwhile, David* felt differently on the matter of North Koreas threats, stating that only “if they start sending out troops should we start to worry,” surmising that because of it’s superpower status, the United States has to deal with a lot of unfulfilled hate messages and threats from disgruntled nations. Regardless of the legitimacy of North Korea’s threats, Brandon* best summarized the simple truth of the matter: “Never sleep on your enemy.”
Aside from White House assurances that U.S. missile defenses are adequate for the present level of threat, President Barack Obama told ABC News that that; "They probably can't (reach us with their weapons) but we don't like the margin of error," Without any real definition for that “margin of error,“ Chuck Hagel, Defense Secretary announced that the United States will deploy additional ground-based missile interceptors on the West Coast as part of efforts to enhance the nation's ability to defend itself from attack by North Korea. The additional 14 interceptors added to the West Coast will bring the interceptor total to 44 by 2017. This effort will cost the United States a solid billion dollars, an arguably high price to pay in the face of an inferior country.
Finally, Pentagon officials admitted that they were concerned about a mobile missile displayed in a parade last April. The KN-08 missile can be moved around the country and hidden, making it harder to detect compared to a missile on a launch pad. "We believe the KN-08 does have the range to reach the United States," said Adm. James Winnefeld.
Because of technology, if any single nation did have the ambition to launch a weapon of mass destruction, the global impact would most likely prove to be unavoidable. “It could create a chain reaction.” Adrian* told Truth Hack in response to the idea. “We’re a super power and we won’t go down without a fight.”
The Bible promises in Matthew 24:6-7. “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye not be troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in diverse places.” In the face of inevitable global chaos, it is important to remember the words of Jesus: see that ye not be troubled. It is God’s perfect plan for all of these things to happen on His timeline. Matthew 6:34 tells us to “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Translation: Don’t give yourself stomach ulcer’s worrying about things that are out of your control. But the key to obtaining this peace of mind is given in the verse just ahead: Matthew 6:33; But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” In conclusion, remember that even the most fail-proof plans of men crumble, but God is perfect and will endure forever. The only real peace and safety to ever exist in present and times past is that provided by really knowing the one and only true God.
